The Castlelands Headquarters project is a continuation of modernism’s strong heritage of simple rectilinear office buildings and is conceived as a courtyard building with an offset core.
The overall impression of the façade is that of a crisp, light expression, offset against a horizontal stone plinth. The ground floor accommodation is set back from the office façade above to heighten this intended sense of floating, creating a wide promenade around the building with views to the city of Cork and the surrounding countryside.
The client’s aspirations for comparatively large 2000 m² floor plates naturally split the total gross area requirement of 7,245 m² into a 4 storey office building, with three identical floor plates sitting atop a smaller ground floor comprised of an vehicular drop-off, building lobby, atrium and office space accommodation.
