The design for the Halla Business Group Corporate Headquarters is located in a new development area of Seoul. The tower programme is primarily office space with executive offices located in the top three floors and restaurants accommodated on level three. An employee canteen, a large multi-purpose space, retail areas and a fitness centre are also provided. Additionally, a two storey lobby houses banking facilities and a computer/ library centre for employee and public use. An intricately landscaped raised plinth covers on-grade parking for 3,600 vehicles.
The basis of the design was in effect two buildings linked together, creating an oversized floor plate of approximately 3,250 m². The form of the building takes on a teardrop shape in section, accentuated by column recesses up the building, culminating in architectural lantern crowns. The base of the building is marked by 22 structural tetrahedrons, transferring the structure of the lower 4 floors of the building. Two expansive lobby spaces are punctuated by these structural forms along with sloped glass trapezoidal panels.
