Prior to establishing Rutherford Harvey Architecture Kaaren was Design Director at Mossessian & Partners executing the design of 17 buildings over 3 Phases of the Msheireb Downtown Doha project in Qatar.  Previously, as Senior Architect for Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture in Dubai, Kaaren was responsible for local client liaison related to the AS+GG signature buildings and supertall towers within the Jumeira Gardens Masterplan.  As an Associate and Senior Designer / Studio Head at the London office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Kaaren led design efforts for numerous large-scale mixed-use developments including NATO Headquarters in Brussels, award-winning office development Edificio Portico in Madrid and Quebec Tower in London.

Kaaren was educated in New Zealand achieving a first class honours degree in architecture at Victoria University of Wellington where she also tutored design for a further two semesters.  As a graduate architect Kaaren worked for Pelorus Architecture and award-winning practice Studio of Pacific Architecture completing the interior fit-out for PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Wellington whilst also completing independent commissions for single dwellings and residential renovations.

Kaaren brings to Rutherford Harvey Architecture an extensive knowledge and leadership skills related to large-scale residential and office led mixed-use developments together with conceptual, aesthetic and computer-based design skills.  Kaaren’s experience in the Middle East and Europe equips her with the professionalism and understanding required for leading large consultant teams and working with complex client structures.
