The La Perouse Development for SFERA is located in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin Island Russia. The project is a mixed-use development comprised of a 10 storey office building, 32 storey Residential tower, 2 storey Health Center and 2 basement levels of parking. This project will be, by far, the tallest set of buildings in the city and therefore establishes a high degree of modern design, iconic in nature.
The concept design phase focused on three options for the architectural appearance of the development, based on a prototypical floor plate design for both the office and the residential components: Rectilinear, Wave and Shard. The concepts were based on regional analogies of the rugged Sakhalin Island terrain, crystals, wave forms (sea) and nautical devices. Each scheme looked to create a striking architectural expression.
