The Bermondsey Apartment is located within a Victorian warehouse conversion development, with historic brick facade and large Crittall windows facing south and east. The existing layout is challenged by poor natural light to the main living spaces and over-compartmentation.
The proposed layout uses an open-plan concept of combined living spaces, relocated to take maximum advantage of the large, unobscured Crittall windows facing east, for morning sun. Uninterrupted views across the entire living space and an extensive flow of natural light provides a sense of spaciousness and well-being.
The Bedroom occupies the south-west corner of the apartment where natural light is more subdued owing to the adjacency of the neighbouring building. A full length built-in wardrobe and built-in utility and coat closet provides access to ample storage. A swap of the kitchen and bathroom locations allows for simple plumbing adjustments and provides for a separate shower and soaking tub within the bathroom and larger, open-plan kitchen becoming the heart of the apartment.
